The Great North Standard

Deeply rooted in the rich footballing heritage of Northern England, our showcase provides an elite platform for cross-continental football development. The tournament brings together top-flight European professional academies and premier North American clubs to experience high-intensity fixtures, elite data analytics tracking, and professional sports science integration.

Hosted entirely within Fleetwood Town FC’s world-class EPPP Category 2 training infrastructure, the event guarantees a turnkey, fully hosted operational experience for visiting delegations. Top academies seeking elite-tier competition may formally submit an application to secure one of our restricted vacancy slots.

The Great North Hospitality

Engineered to eliminate the logistical burdens of international travel, our program delivers a seamless turnkey tour experience for players and technical staff. From the moment your traveling delegation arrives in the UK, our on-site operations team handles every detail.

Visiting squads receive private luxury coach transit providing dedicated transfers from Manchester (MAN) or Liverpool (LPL) straight to our designated 3-Star tournament hotel. To ensure professional performance preparation, the package includes private squad blocks and three high-nutrition athlete meals daily.

The Great North Format

Winning squads are awarded the prestigious Great North Cup alongside bespoke, custom-crafted individual trophies for each player.

To foster continuous sporting exchange between global markets, the victorious coaching staff will receive 3 x 1-Week Professional Development Placements in Toronto, Canada. This fully hosted technical study tour provides exclusive access to elite North American club infrastructures, immersive sporting director roundtables, and live professional match observations.

The Great North Incentives

Built upon strict load-management parameters, our tournament structure utilizes an exclusive eight-team matrix tailored for U14 Boys in elite 11v11 fixtures. The format guarantees a balanced games programme designed to optimize global tactical exposure without compromising player welfare.

To maximize player recovery over the two-day showcase, matches are strictly timed at 2 x 20-minute halves with mandatory, guaranteed 75 minute rest blocks between fixtures. This scheduling approach allows high-intensity performance to thrive, ensuring every academy squad competes at its physical peak through to the final.

Inaugurated by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2016 and nestled along the scenic Fylde Coast, Fleetwood Town FC’s EPPP Category 2 Poolfoot Farm complex stands as a premier hub of football excellence.

The facility features professionally manicured natural grass tournament pitches, premium floodlit FIFA 2-Star grade 4G turf, and dedicated technical analysis rooms. This world-class environment is fully supported by modern recovery suites, private player-catering spaces, and high-performance briefing spaces designed to mirror the daily standards of the professional game.
